The reality is that Switzerland would fall in the end if all the Allied nations fell. Hitler was spending most of his resources fighting the bigger enemies since he knew they were the one's that could of attacked and sustained a continual fight without exhausting all their resources. Switzerland was not in a position to be a direct threat to Germany so they were left alone.

Nice video! I've always been fascinated with that a tiny portion of Europe remained unoccupied, while the entire continent fell to the Nazis. The German's strength was their mechanized units & they would have been useless in the Swiss Alps. The Luftwaffe would have bombed nothing but mountain rock & the Swiss would have emerged unscathed from their network of underground facilities. The German's only option was infantry fighting uphill & meeting their absolute ruin. They weren't dumb & moved on

The account is a testimony to Swiss ingenuity, thorough preparedness & cunning in using the natural terrain to their overwhelming advantageGreat piece of history! |
