@flattrackmile - I've done my fair share of flying in beech King Airs, and if the O2 system in the Pilatus is anything like the system in the B200, then you have to arm the system in order for O2 to be supplied to the masks. This is done as a precaution; if a birdstrike breaks the windshield, the pilot will probably put on a full shield face mask so he can continue to fly with the wind and noise. In such an instance, O2 will be supplied to the mask - but only if the system is turned on.
