Wrong! Within next to no time the new trains became so popular that capacity became an issue. They should have built the system for 3-car trains!

@jeanpauljh I very much regret not having filmed this with my camcorder, as then I would have been able to film the two station shuttle train as well. These trains were going to be used on a new railway in France, but then it was discovered that they have asbestos, and they were scrapped instead.

I remember taking this train, many years ago. How I miss it

i just miss the "old school" folkloric side of the old "ficelle"... even if the current m2 is much more efficient.

the new line opens soon - October I think! The old rack + pinion trains are going to be reused on a mountain raiwlay in France - somewhere near Grenoble, I think.Simon

Very interesting video of a very interesting railway. Too bad that it's replaced by a modern rubber-tyred system...

Thanks.Yes 2-car trains, but for a smaller city this will be enough. If a lot of people want to travel the trains will come much more frequently.Simon

First to comment, the new trains that are going to run on this line are going to be some trains of MP89 from the Paris Metro. I heard that they are going to be run with 2-car trains not 6-car trains like in Paris |
