Brienz Rothorn Bahn Ascent
A trip up the 800mm gauge Brienz Rothorn Bahn in Switzerland. Starting from the terminus at Brienz on the shores of the Brienzersee (566m above sea level) & climbs on gradients of up to 1 in 4 over a distance of 7.5km to the summit of the line at Rothorn Kulm (2244m), which nestles a little below the summit of the Brienzer Rothorn itself, at 2351m. Now the only Rack railway in Switzerland to offer a daily steam service over the summer months, the line is predominently worked by modern oil-fired steam locomotives built by SLM in the 1990's.
