Learning how to keep the Swiss Alps clean - or: How an April Fool's joke became true
Swiss Tourism broadcast a spoof film on April 1, 2009, showing the lengths it would go to attract tourists. The video portrayed a mountain cleaning team in Engelberg, central Switzerland, abseiling down cliff faces to remove bird droppings. Some 30,000 people took the online test to find out whether they had what it took to become Alp cleaners. Now they have the chance to join a real course. (Julie Hunt, swissinfo.ch)
