@racear8 Legally, I know of nothing that would preclude it; pragmatically speaking, There are two factors to consider.1.) I rather doubt that any insurer would permit it.2.) You would have to operate at a relatively low altitude that would cause the engine to guzzle fuel.

@youngestpilotinGa It provides better leverage against the airframe, allowing for a smaller tail than would be possible if it were mounted lower. It also decreases the pitch changes usually experienced when altering the power setting of a prop driven aircraft.

@gaguy1967 it was designed that way so that people could bring their cars up to the aircraft and that they could have more room in general for people on the ground
