The rest of the world claims X distance as "territorial waters." This will place the LCS in deep stuff most of the time. When in harms way it will have to consider each and every mud hut along a shore as a potential anti-tank nest. The 9M123 is supersonic and it's predecessor reportedly has stopped M1 and Merkava tanks? The 9M won't sink this ship but it has excellent range, works oh helos, and could stop an LCS. Every hut a king? Maybe monitors from "The Sand Pebbles" or vit-nam? or??

"Blue sea" Which one is that? You mean deep sea?No one is claiming it to go up against large fleets but what was just explained to you being quicker in smaller ops and highly maneuverable.Perfect for taking out terrorists and pirates but not a fleet.Bet you'll still argue that again with bad reply.

Littoral means close to shore, and that's where these fleet-hulled babies will operate, tailor-made for launching helicopters and armored vehicles, sweeping mines and firing all manner of torpedoes,missiles and machine guns.It is quick moving and agile and is a definite need to stay ahead of the enemy.No spoons needed when talking survival of the fittest. Maybe a two man inflatable raft was in your plans for disarming America but we ain't that stupid.

My comment was a reply to BlacktailFA. BlacktailFA was talking about the LCS being built in AL. That ship is indeed ALL aluminum. and of a completely different design, more like a ferry. The steel LCS ship that was built and the next one being built now are so far exclusively being built in Marinette, WI. I worked on the first one and have done extensive research on it. If you confused my comment to be about the steel ships, then all is ok. |
