Train arrival in Brienz, Switzerland

On a weekend in April 2007, my girlfriend and me decided to do a weekend trip from Lucerne to Grindelwald (Switzerland). Using my parent's car, we made the way from Lucerne to Grindelwald within a few hours. During the car ride to Grindelwald, we stopped at several places to have a rest or to enjoy the beautiful scenery. One of our stops was in Brienz, a small town having around 3000 inhabitants and which is located on the north bank of Lake Brienz in the Bernese Oberland.Brinz town alos lies on the railway route Lucerne-Interlaken, which is run by the Zentralbahn railway company. The company runs narrow gauge railways (Switzerland boasts an extensive network of metre gauge railwas, most of them concerntrated in the more heavily mountainous areas) and starting from Lucerne, the trains of the Zentralbahn need to pass the Brünig pass (1008 m / 3300 ft) using cogwheel. This video shows the arrival of the Zentralbahn train in Brienz, after having passed the Brünig pass.

Also, I really miss the Swiss and European engineering overall- this video is a good example of that. I need my car in Florida, in Switzerland I would've been able to go mostly anywhere by train or bus. Also, Europe is just so much more modern...and now I'm homesick. ={

Man, I miss the place. =[ I was born in Luzern and raised in Baar, Zug. Live in Florida right now. =[ I miss the snow and the culture, and of course the chocolate, fondue, and everything else. I'd take a kalbsbratwurst or schniposasta right now.Hopp Schwiiz!

I know, I know, I'm from Lucerne and I did the train ride over the Brünig for about half a dozen of times already... as well as many other interesting train rides over the Gotthard and Furka and Zermatt and Jugfraujoch and Albula and Bernina and ... and ... and ... - Switzerland's so small but so rich in spectacular train rides.

thanks. but this train would not have passed over the Brunig Pass. These railcars are only used for local services and are not used on rack sections. keep up the interest in things railway - and next time travel to Grindelwald by train.

Das Isch Super !! Those people are really lucky who either are Swiss citizens or get some chance to live in Switzerland. Its the greatest feeling to be a part of this great system. Switzerland is a combination of God made Nature and Man made Nation. Both have done a very good job.

God has given all the beauty he had to Switzerland. Its lakes, mountains, meadows, cities and Public Transport System (SBB,BLS.....) are simply breath taking. I have lived and worked in Switzerland for a long time and I have fallen in Love with this country.
